A majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump and his family should not be profiting from cryptocurrency while he is in the White House, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The survey found that 63% of respondents considered Trump and his family’s crypto earnings inappropriate, compared with 32% who said the profits were acceptable. Another 5% did not answer. The poll surveyed 1,166 US adults between August 14 and 17 and has a margin of error of three percentage points.

Some 69% of respondents said Trump’s private business interests influence his decisions as president. That view was shared by about two-thirds of independent voters and nine in 10 Democrats. Even among Republicans, roughly half believed his business interests affect his decisions.
The findings come as Trump faces renewed scrutiny over the scale of his cryptocurrency-related earnings. According to federal disclosures from July, Trump made more than $1.2 billion from crypto ventures, including World Liberty Financial (CRYPTO: $WLFI ), a company launched with his sons, and his namesake meme coin.
Earlier this summer, the administration’s disclosures showed roughly $500 million in income linked to World Liberty Financial and another $600 million tied to the meme coin.
The figures have prompted several Senate Democrats, including Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, Gary Peters, Dick Durbin and Ron Wyden, to call for investigations into potential conflicts of interest and national security risks. Lawmakers have also raised questions about third parties holding a majority stake in World Liberty Financial.
Trump has rejected claims that his crypto activities involve wrongdoing. In a CNBC interview in July, he said there was “nothing illegal” about the profits.
The White House has also dismissed conflict-of-interest concerns, saying Trump does not manage the family business day-to-day and that his investments are independently handled.
On Wednesday, Trump also met with crypto executives at the White House.
